For the official opening of the Rameau year, a true event took place on 13 February at the Opéra Royal de Versailles: the rediscovery of one of the last unknown treasures of the French master, Les Fêtes de l’Hymen et de l’Amour (1747). Reinoud Van Mechelen participated in this concert performance alongside with the Concert Spirituel under the baton of Hervé Niquet. The recorded concert can be attended until 14 August 2014 on the website Culturebox of France Télévision.
In order to continue the celebrations for Jean-Philippe Rameau, Reinoud Van Mechelen will take part in the staged production of "Rameau, Maître à danser" (including two ballet pieces: Daphnis et Eglée and La naissance d’Osiris) in Caen with Les Arts Florissants and William Christie (Premiere on 4 June 2014) and will subsequently take part in the production Castor et Pollux at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, once again with the Concert Spirituel and Hervé Niquet (premiere on 13 October).
