The greatest highlight of Elsa Dreisig’s last opera-season was without doubt her role debut as Manon (Massenet) at the Zurich Opera which was wonderfully summarized by a critic the following way:
“This role-debut cannot be reported with the common verbiage “successful” only. Elsa Dreisig - not yet 30 years old – as Manon was downright sensational, outstanding and superior - simply to kneel down. Her vocal and musical interpretation of captivating easiness, commanding over a wide range of dynamic facets and with a timbre which is neither too bright nor too dark. Crystal clear her vocal line, intonation and intervallic leaps. Thanks to her French-Danish parentage her phrasing is stupendously natural. Moreover her compliance in performing the young Manon Lescaut as a stage-character gives proof of the artist Elsa Dreisig’s enormous maturity and touching empathy“.

For the opening of the new season another very important and demanding role-debut awaits Elsa Dreisig at the Bastille Opera in Paris: Elvira in I Puritani within the revival of Laurent Pelly’s stage-production (with Riccardo Frizza conducting).
