Reinoud Van Mechelen is Dardanus at the Opéra national de Bordeaux with the Ensemble Pygmalion and Raphaël Pichon in a staging by Michel Fau. The opening night was acclaimed a few days ago. At the start of this season Reinoud Van Mechelen made a sensational impression in Rameau’s Castor et Pollux at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées.

The Financial Times emphasised "his astounding ease when performing the athlete’s aria "Éclatez, fières trompettes" (14.10.2014), and so did Forumopera: "Reinoud Van Mechelen’s ease in the most virtuoso aria of the whole work is fascinating" (15.10.2014). Diapason highlighted "his precious fluency" (15.10.2014) and Le Monde granted "a special mention to brilliant Reinoud Van Mechelen". Last but not least Concertclassic praises: „radiant, youthful and powerful Reinoud Van Mechelen in the athlete's scaring arie" (17.10.2014).

After all Reinoud Van Mechelen is now performing the title role in an opera by Jean-Philippe Rameau for the first time in his career: Dardanus at the Opéra National de Bordeaux. Conductor: Raphaël Pichon, stage director: Michel Fau.
