„More tempting a voice can hardly sound!“ exclaimed the journalist of the German SWR Radio enthusiastically when presenting Marie-Claude Chappuis’ first solo-album „Sous l’empire d’amour“ released by Harmonia Mundi last year. Meanwhile the Swiss mezzo-soprano also outshone the recording of Mozart’s Requiem in a new version of René Jacobs’ (also recorded for Harmonia Mundi) proofing to be a „first-class vocalist in this repertoire, delivering an ample, rich and colourful timbre“. (baroquiades.com, 22.02.18).
Marie-Claude Chappuis is now making her debut with Milan’s Teatro alla Scala joining the rarely performed opera Fierrabras by Franz Schubert. The production under Daniel Harding’s baton and in Peter Stein’s staging is also the first time ever this opera can be heard at La Scala.
Opening night on 5th June 2018.
